Allen Dale Nichols

October 5, 1939 — May 3, 2024

Ashland, Missouri

Allen Dale Nichols, 84, a resident of Ashland, passed away on May 3, 2024, in Columbia.

Allen was born on October 5, 1939, in Ashland, Missouri, the son of Leonard and Lillian (Peak) Nichols. On October 19, 2002, in Ashland, he married Helen Martin and she survives.

Allen served his country with honor in the United States Navy for four years. Following his military service, he embarked on a career as a computer operator for Circle Seal in California until his well-deserved retirement in 2001. Throughout his life, Allen nurtured a love for family, often cherishing moments spent with his loved ones. An active and engaged individual, Allen found joy in various pursuits. He was an avid golfer and in his later years found solace in gardening, growing strawberries and tomatoes. Among Allen's proudest accomplishments was his involvement in the Elks Club where he held the esteemed position of Exalted Ruler. He also dedicated his time to the Ashland Senior Center and while raising his children, served as the youth registrar for the American Youth Soccer Organization, an activity close to his heart as it involved his sons. Allen had the privilege of participating in the Mid Missouri Honor Flight, a tribute to his service, in which he journeyed to Washington DC for a day filled with honor and remembrance. In the hearts of those who knew him best, Allen leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness.

He will be sadly missed and forever remembered by his wife Helen (Martin) Nichols; two sons, Michael Nichols and wife Elaine of Colorado Springs CO and David Nichols and wife Tami of Glendora, CA; three grandchildren, Sierra Nichols, Rick Hurd, and Gene Nichols; two sisters Carolyn Fischer of Columbia and Nancy Knehans of Ashland.

He is reunited in peace with his father Leonard Nichols; mother Lillian (Peak) Nichols; first wife and mother of his children, Barbara (Chivinsky) Nichols; one brother Ernie Lee Nichols.
